Parenting Is Hard

Confession: There are a few things I’ve let slide as a parent. My husband and I decided it was time to put a stop to certain behaviors. I was hesitant at first, not only for the sake of keeping the peace, but also because I know that consistency and follow through are critical for success. It is hard for kids who are comfortable in their laziness or attitudes to suddenly find themselves being called out and (gasp!) punished for these heart-matters. Painful, but necessary – unless we want to teach our children that mediocrity, negative attitudes, and laziness are ok.

Train a child in the way he should go. When he is old he will not turn away from it. – Proverbs 22:6

Train. Yes, parenting does require endurance and a willingness to keep at it, even when it’s hard.

Lace up those running shoes and get out of the comfort zone.

Being a bridge builder takes a lot of training and endurance!

About Kimberly Vogel

I am a mom of four beautiful daughters, a writer, and a certified Early Childhood and Elementary Teacher who recently made the switch from teaching in a classroom to teaching her children at home. I am often found in the children’s area of my church where I volunteer and lead a children’s program. Writing is a natural outpouring of my love for my Savior. Follow along while I share my journey as a bridge builder with you. My prayer is that you start building bridges too!
